Week 8 03/12/25 Lab  This week in lab we learned a lot. We looked at our fast plants and observed changes we saw. I noticed that the roots of our plant are changing colors and petals are falling off. Then, we shared the baby we created yesterday to the class and talked about dominant and recessive genes. Next, we learned about DNA, mRNA, and Amino Acid sequences and did two simulations that helped deepen our understanding. Then, we did a superhero worksheet where we changed the DNA of a person and made them a superhero and we talked about how mutation happen. Lastly, we talked about our reader response from last week which was about carbon cycles. Overall, we learned a lot this week in lab.  I can relate to what we learned this week to my prior knowledge as I remember learning about DNA, mRNA, and Amino Acids in high s...

Week 7 Blog 03/05/2025  This week in lab we learned quite a bit. We started the lab off by looking at the monarch butterflies and the ones that were still in their cocoons. After we looked at our fast plants and observed if we saw any changes in them since we did the bee sticks last week. My groups plant is starting to wilt and looks like it is dying. After, we started learning about DNA and it's importance. We made a model using twizzlers and gum drops. Lastly, we did an activity with our table partner where we flipped a coin to determine the phenotype and genotype of a baby and then we drew the baby based on what the coin flipped and then wrote about how the baby got it's individual traits.  From what we did this week, I am able to relate what we learned to my prior knowledge in elementary school. All of the topics we did this week I remember learning about in my younger years.  I can apply what I learned this week to my future career as a teacher as all of the k...
