Week 14 Blog

                                      Week 14 Lab 04/30/2025

This week in lab, I learned a lot. We did simulations over solids, liquids, and gas and learned how the particles of these three move, and what their interactions are. Then, we used a plunger as an example to learn about solids. Then, we learned about why drinks make condensation when it is warm outside and made a flip grid video, overall this week I learned a lot. 
From what we did in lab this past week, some of it was prior knowledge for me. I have learned about different types of matter in my prior science classes, however I did not know much about the particle motion and interactions of the types of matter. I also did not know why pop cans create condensation. Overall, a lot of what we did this week was new knowledge that I enjoyed learning. 


Lastly, from what we learned this week, I will be able to apply it to my future career as a teacher. I will be teaching my future students about matter and in order to do that, I must have in-depth knowledge of matter and the particle motion and interactions of the different types of matter. Overall, what we learned this week will help me in my future career as a teacher.

                                         Week 5 Blog 02/19/2025  This week, we had lab on zoom, although we were not able to meet in person, we got a lot done and learned new knowledge and also built on upon prior knowledge throughout our zoom lab. We started the lab by going over the five parts of the 5E model which are: engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and lastly evaluate. We then also talked about the lesson plan assignment for this week just to make sure we all understood what we are supposed to do. Week Four Blog Post

                                              Week 4 Lab Blog 02/12/2025 This week lab was a little different than usual, we had a snow day so the work that we were supposed to do was assigned asynchronously. We learned about a 5E lesson model and what the functions of each section are. Then, we completed an assignment where we had to find the lesson on NGSS with limited information. Next, we had to define the performance expectation of the lesson, and answer 6 reflection questions in regards to 5E. Then, we had to find and write the scientific and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, and the disciplinary core ideas.  Thinking back to my prior knowledge, learning about 5E was new to me this week but I found it to be very helpful as a future educator. Week 8 Blog Post

                                              Week 8 03/12/25 Lab  This week in lab we learned a lot. We looked at our fast plants and observed changes we saw. I noticed that the roots of our plant are changing colors and petals are falling off. Then, we shared the baby we created yesterday to the class and talked about dominant and recessive genes. Next, we learned about DNA, mRNA, and Amino Acid sequences and did two simulations that helped deepen our understanding. Then, we did a superhero worksheet where we changed the DNA of a person and made them a superhero and we talked about how mutation happen. Lastly, we talked about our reader response from last week which was about carbon cycles.
