Week Two Blog Post

                                           Lab Week Two 01/29/25 This week in lab, we went over quite a bit. We learned more about what makes a living thing considered living and made anchor charts to solidify our knowledge, and I added a photo below of my groups. We learned more about NGSS and SEP, DCIs, and CCCs. We went over how to make and structure an argument so that it is effective and we tested it out on the question of: Is a virus considered a living thing? I put my groups response down below in the photos. Then lastly, we learned about how seeds germinate and grow into a plant and we are starting our own project of that by germinating lentil seeds, as seen in the photos below.  Today, what we learned in lab I was able to relate back to my prior knowledge. Week One Blog Post

Week 1 Science Methods Discussion  This week in lecture and discussion we learned about what something has to have in order to be considered living. We also learned about NGSS and how it compares to Iowa science standards. I am able to relate what we learned this week to my prior learning as we learned about what makes something a living thing when I was in elementary school, so this has been a good refresher to remember what I learned and also build upon my prior knowledge. Although I had prior knowledge on living things, I did not know really anything about NGSS or looking at it from an educators standpoint, which I really enjoyed because I thought it was interesting in how the NGSS compared to the Iowa standards and also how standards play a huge role in what lessons are taught to students. I can apply what I learned this week to my teaching in the future as having a thorough understanding on what the standards are and how to apply them will help me be success in teaching my stu...
